Hagedorn Wins Big in Intense Race for Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Truck Title presented by Summit Racing Equipment
Sellersburg, IN (October 31st, 2023) – Year in, year out, the Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Truck division presented by Summit Racing Equipment is among the most challenging and intense classes on the Champions Tour to compete in. The 2023 title run for Thompson, Missouri's Terry Hagedorn and the "Kickin' Up Dust" Chevy were a prime example of that extreme level of competition, with the championship decided on the final run of the season.
Hagedorn started the season with a sixth-place finish at the Mackville Nationals in Mackville, Wisconsin. He quickly regrouped and stormed towards the top of the class with three straight wins. With a rainout of a session of competition at the Osceola, Iowa event, top performances were critical for all competitors with a chance at the title. Points leading into the final event, the Kansas Summer Nationals in McLouth, Kansas had a six-point differential between Hagedorn in first and Steve Clem and the "Ratical" Chevy in third place. Wedged between Hagedorn and Clem - and four points out of the lead - was defending class champion Jim Bosch and the "Midnight Raider" Chevy.
Hagedorn, a past class champion as well, kicked off the weekend in McLouth with a second-place finish, while Bosch picked up third place and Clem in fourth. That set up the finale, requiring Hagedorn to finish no worse than third to clinch the title if Bosch won that session and Clem with an outside chance at the title if Hagedorn or Bosch faltered. Adding to the drama was Hagedorn being the final hook of the final session with competitors and fans watching the class unfold with every hook. Clem was in seventh place as Hagedorn pulled onto the track and Bosch in third. Hagedorn would claim the title on a pass good enough for third in the session.
Congratulations to Terry on his 2023 points championship! He, along with his fellow classmates, will be recognized for their efforts and excellence at the Champions Tour Banquet scheduled for Saturday, November 18th.
