E3 Spark Plugs Pro Pulling Nationals presented by General Tire
Sept. 2, 2011One hundred thirty-four days is the period of time that has occurred this summer as four Champion Tour classes will converge on the magnificent Lucas Oil Speedway, in Wheatland, MO for one last season’s battle. The E3 Spark Plugs Pro Pulling Nationals presented by General Tire filmed for a CBS Sports Spectacular which will air on October 1st will undoubtedly leave you amazed. The action will sizzle as the MAC Trailer Unlimited Super Stock Tractors, Speedco Modified 4X4 Trucks, Premier Crop Insurance Pro-Stock Tractors, E3 Sparkplug Super Modified Tractors will duel one last time as the Rockstar Super Modified 2WD will finish their season one week later in Waynesburg, PA. All of the classes are limited to Champions Tour pre-committed competitors only except for the MAC Trailer Unlimited Super Stock Tractors which are open entries.
Jeremy Nelson’s pilot of the 1941 Panel Van Midnight Gambler has garnered six victories this season which has enabled him to stretch a 53 point lead over the next closet competitor. During the month of July Nelson never, was beat at the Champions Tour level, which to state in any division is quite a feat in itself. Consistent passes is on the agenda for the Gambler team for the month to finish out, but the second place driver, Brad Moss is not at all uneasy about his position as just a year ago he was in the same position with only one hook left, yet the truck he’s driving, Ridin Dirty finished in the top three at season’s end, will still claw for a chance at the leader during these last two events for the 2011 season.
The MAC Trailer Super Stock point’s race has dramatically changed in the month of August as the spot shuffled back to defending champion Jeff Hirt and his Ferris Industrial Mowers Runin Bare. Frank Keener’s, XXX machine was perched at the top of a exciting field for most of the season, but misfortune of hitting the chalk line in Hillsboro WI and two victories by Hirt has given him the needed “breathing” room to find his was to the top spot.
The Premier Crop Insurance Pro-Stock Tractors was incredible match between the Linder Brothers, John Deere of Ohio and Stuart Maize’s Billet Binder from Missouri which has also solidified his ranking as the leader during the half-way mark during the season. The luck of the draw has helped with the Billet Binder and little to no mechanical issues has charged the red machine to the top as the championship looks to head to Amity, Missouri.
In typical dramatic fashion the E3 Super Modified Tractor division will be decided on the track as Shel-Shocked, Rockstar Dirtslinger, and Down & Dirty will make one last charge to re-shuffle the top three positions. As the cards are dealt on Saturday it will sure be a noisy, hair raising experience as the three tractors in question will sure have their Hemi’s “tuned” for sweet music as they charge the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks”.
The class that has the biggest surprise coming into the last event is the Speedco Modified 4X4 Trucks which has a trio at the top battling for the elusive championship. The margin from first to third is six points which translates to only four positions of competition. Reigning champion Jim Bosch sits third with his Midnight Raider, Chevrolet. Second place is held by sports veteran Gary Varner who has fiercely charged his Fast Break, Ford to a single point from the top spot. Past champion, Terry Hagedorn sits atop the division with Gun Powder & Lead hoping his home-state Missouri dirt will kindly play to his favor and capture another title. Without a doubt this the truck race will surely make for an incredible shootout.
