K&N Engineering Inks $30,000 Major Contingency To Continue Support Of Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League In 2010

April 23, 2010

K&NK&N Engineering, of Riverside, Calif., will continue its backing of professional and sportsman truck and tractor pulling competitors through a $30,000 Major Contingency Program signed with the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League (PPL) in 2010.

The 40 year-old Company, a world renown inventor and innovator in the field of reusable cotton gauze filter technology, will pay a total of nine (9) different divisions within the PPL, including its elite and nationally televised Lucas Oil Champions Tour, upper tier Midwest (Regional) Series, and several others to be announced.

“K&N Filters has been with us from the very start of our organization, and their continued participation and support is tremendously appreciated by all parties. This year we are touching even more of the regional competitors,” said PPL Director, John Mears.

“As a highly visible and key member of ‘Team Lucas’, K&N Filters is able to gain valuable exposure through our brand loyal competitor base, plus hundreds of thousands of impressionable consumers at venues across a vast demographic scale,” he continued.

“In addition, K&N will continue to see their brand activation and products in use within our extensive series of cable television broadcasts, including Speed, Versus, and MAVTV among others.”

Competitors are eligible for the program providing their vehicles utilize either a K&N Filters air filter, or K&N Filters oil filter, and must also be affixed with approved decals on each side of vehicle during competition. Winners from eligible divisions within the Lucas Oil Champions Tour and regional will receive $150, while runner-ups will get $100.

Initial running of the elite Lucas Oil Champions Tour takes place in Knoxville, TN during the 107.7 WIVK Rock Top Pull (www.propulling.com). The June 4-5, 2010 event will include Super Modified Two-Wheel Drive Truck, Modified 4X4 Trucks, and the ever popular Hot Rod Semi’s.

From humble beginnings as a family run business over 40 years ago, K&N Engineering, now a truly global company with offices in the U.K. and the Netherlands, continues to exist as a family owned business with an enthusiast mindset and a direct connection with motor sports that carries over throughout all levels of management and manufacturing.

Although the current market continues in large part to rely on the now antiquated disposable paper filter element that has been in existence since the dawn of the gasoline internal combustion engine, K&N is pleased to note that in recent months, leading paper filter companies have seen the light and begun to follow its lead in what can only be described as a filter revolution as the automotive industry continues to shift towards the widespread acceptance of long-life performance gauze filters. The cotton gauze filter market segment has seen significant investment in global spending towards educating both consumers and automotive industry engineers in the environmental and performance advantages associated with long-life air filters. K&N will continue to spearhead this filter revolution, and has pushed filter technology to a new level with cutting-edge R&D across its entire line of air filters, to be announced in further detail in the very near future.

Today, K&N exists as both the sales and brand leader for performance filters, and maintains a stocking catalogue of over 3,500 part numbers, including an extensive line of both factory replacement drop-in filters, FIPK (Fuel Injection Performance Kit) applications, and its line of innovative Performance Gold oil filters.
